This month we are focusing on the work of the residential treatment centre, Broadway Lodge.

Broadway Lodge is based in Weston-super-Mare and provides help to participants overcoming addiction. They provide inpatient detox and residential rehabilitation, as well as supported housing, aftercare and outpatient counselling for people living in the community.

As a partner in the West of England Works programme, Broadway Lodge has been able to strengthen the aftercare support for those who are now abstinent, living in the community and needing ongoing help with their recovery while also considering their next steps towards education, training and employment.

Some of the services that are on offer to their participants include:
• An aftercare service
• Supported housing
• One to one counselling
• One to one work development
• Goal setting
• Action planning to get people into education and employment.

Since starting in March, Broadway Lodge has had 23 people join the programme, four of whom are now in employment, a further three are in further education and several others are doing shorter courses and/or voluntary work.

The first person to sign up was a 52-year-old lady who hadn’t worked since she was 16. Through working with the West of England Works programme she was able to set goals, build her confidence and also her self-belief. She completed her first ever CV, applied for two jobs and completed her first ever interviews. The programme also found her voluntary work, which allowed her to build up her skills and experience, she is now working full time at Broadway Lodge.

Broadway Lodge want to make it as easy as possible for their participants and are very flexible in terms of when they are willing to meet you. You can get in contact with Broadway Lodge via phone on 01934 818050, or you can email the Project Coordinator: wendyruddick@broadwaylodge.org.uk It is also open for participants to drop-in, and all referral routes are acceptable, whether it is for yourself, a partner, or from an external organisation.
